Preview: Manchester United VS Chelsea

Another blockbuster clash takes place this weekend with Manchester United hosting Chelsea in what is shaping up to be a must watch game of football. Last week it was the Manchester Derby taking the headlines however this week it is another storied rivalry in the Premier League that steals the show. Two clubs that have struggled in recent times maybe Manchester United more so however both clubs have not been at their best in the past few years. Both clubs have gone through several managers and both clubs have had a change of ownership recently. Everything points towards this being an exciting game of football and one fans cannot wait to watch.

History of the fixture

The last time these teams faced Chelsea came away 1-0 winners in a tightly contested game. The overall history of the fixture favours Manchester United with the side from The two teams have faced off 197 times in all competitions with Manchester United winning 80 games and Chelsea winning only 56 of those encounters. Chelsea will be looking to make a statement at Old Trafford however the side have recently struggled playing away against United. Chelsea have been winless in their past 5 meetings with United at Old Trafford. The history of course favours United however considering their current form i think Chelsea will be quietly confident going into this one.

Predicted Lineups and Players to Watch

The fixture also comes with some exciting storylines and narratives which help add to the excitement and build up to this game.

Manchester United (3,4,2,1) Bayindir, Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw, Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu, Mbeumo, Amad, Sesko

Chelsea (4,2,3,1) Sanchez, Cucurella, Tosin, Chalobah, James, Enzo, Caicedo, Palmer, Garnacho, Neto, Pedro

Players to watch

The game has some very intriguing storylines in terms of team news that im sure many fans are excited for. Most notably Alejandro Garnacho. The winger used to play for Manchester United and joined Chelsea on a permanent transfer over the summer. Garnacho was under the spotlight late in his Manchester United career due to his discipline and was eventually forced into a move as he got dropped from the Manchester United squad. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca stated in his press conference that he believes the winger is ready to start and i think he will make his first start for Chelsea at Old Trafford against his former side.

For United, Matheus Cunha is set to make an appearance on the bench after suffering a hamstring injury a few weeks ago. Mason mount also seems to have made a recovery and may feature against his former side.

Prediction

The game itself is set to be an exciting one for all spectators with both clubs looking to make a statement. Chelsea have not won a game at Old Trafford in a long time and they will be looking to change that narrative. For United once again it is another opportunity to turn their season around and give life to their fans hope's of having a successful campaign. It is also a good opportunity for the manager to make a statement and prove that he is tactically good enough for this level. Unfortunately for United i think Chelsea will just be too strong for them and i think they are going to win the game fairly comfortably. I am going to have to say 2-0 Chelsea with Garnacho scoring his first Chelsea goal at a ground he knows so well.
