Starting teams

Brentford (4-2-3-1)

Manchester United (3-4-2-1)

Bayindir (GK), Shaw, Maguire, De Ligt, Dorgu, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dalot, Cunha, Mbuemo, Cunha, Sesko.

Match highlights

A sublime pass from Henderson, in the 8th minute, bypassed Manchester United's offside trap allowing Igor Thiago to open the scoring with an absolute rocket into the top left corner that no keeper is saving.

The Brazilian striker kept the good times rolling for Brentford 12 minutes later where a good run from Schade allowed a good ball across the keeper to reach Thiago slotting away the simple chance to make it 2-0 to the Bees' at home.

United attempted to fight back via the 22 year old Benjamin Sesko, claiming his first goal in Manchester red to make it 2-1 after two shots on goal in quick succession not hitting the back of the net but thirds time being the charm.

The Red Devils' had the chance to equalise after a pull on the arm of Mbeumo from Sam Collins gave referee Craig Pawson no other choice to award a penalty to the Reds'. The penalty attempt did not go as planned for the United captain, Bruno Fernandes, as the penalty was saved by Kelleher after a tame effort at the right side of goal.

Brentford sealed the victory for themselves in the 95th minute with another goal from outside the box from Jensen made it 3-1. The goal being right down the middle had left question marks on if wether goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir could've done better at preventing the goal.
