Bernardo Silva Names City Transfer Target as His Toughest Opponent

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has enjoyed a glittering career at the highest level, going head-to-head with some of the greatest players in football history. From the Premier League to the Champions League, the Portuguese midfielder has consistently tested himself against the very best.

Bernardo Silva on His Toughest Opponents

Throughout his career, Silva has come up against modern icons such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar, all of whom are widely regarded as the standout players of their generation. Speaking to Telemundo Deportes, Silva reflected on the toughest challenges he has faced on the pitch.

He mentioned Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool—two players also named by teammate Rodri as his most difficult opponents.

Interestingly, Silva also highlighted another Brazilian star—Rodrygo—who has long been admired by Manchester City.

Silva said:

“Liverpool, Salah, Madrid with Vinicius and Rodrygo.”

City were reportedly prepared to pay £87 million to sign Rodrygo, but the transfer never materialised, leaving the winger to continue his rise at Real Madrid.

Bernardo Silva on the Toughest Teams

When asked about the most difficult clubs he has faced in his career, Silva made no hesitation in naming two of Europe’s giants.

He added:

“[Toughest team to face] In the Champions League, it’s Madrid and in the Premier League it’s Liverpool.”

Bernardo Silva’s comments underline the level of competition he has faced throughout his career. Regularly lining up against world-class stars like Salah, Vinicius, and Rodrygo demonstrates the standards required to succeed with Manchester City in both domestic and European football.
